Marty is a hospital executive with more than 19 years of for-profit and non-profit healthcare leadership experience, specializing in multi-hospital system management, Academic Health Centers, strategic development, and turn-around situations. In 2011, Marty joined Community Health Systems (CHS) as a Vice President of Operations and was promoted to President of Division Operations in 2014. Today, he oversees the operations of 31-hospitals across 6 states in the southern US, with annual net revenues in excess of $3 Billion.
He came to the company from Jewish Hospital and St. Mary’s Healthcare in Louisville, KY., where he served as CEO of Jewish Hospital & Frazier Rehab Institute and was Senior Vice President of Operations for the system. While with Jewish Hospital, Marty served as the primary liaison to the hospitals teaching affiliate, the University of Louisville School of Medicine, and Co-Chaired the Board of the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute, a cardiovascular research enterprise jointly developed with the University. Prior to his experience in Louisville, he was CEO of Oklahoma State University Medical Center in Tulsa.
In 2011, Marty was the recipient of the Kentucky’s ACHE Early Career Executive Regent’s Award and in 2008 he was named an “Up and Comer” by Modern Healthcare magazine.
Marty is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. He holds dual Master’s degrees from Washington University in St. Louis in Health Care Administration and Information Management and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois. A native of Chicago, Marty currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee.
