Adam Wilson

Adam Wilson is Chief of Staff at United Healthcare.  Adam started his career in IT in 1998, developing enterprise management and carrier class cellular testing software for companies like Cisco and 3COM. In 2007 after completion of his MBA, he shifted his career from technology to management and strategy in healthcare and moved from Chicago to St Paul, MN.

Initially working with a consulting group in UnitedHealth Group’s OptumHealth unit, Adam transitioned into the UnitedHealthcare Medicare business unit’s pharmacy product team in 2009. His role has grown from initial ownership of the Medicare PDP (Prescription Drug Plan) annual bid process and now includes end-to-end PDP strategy, pharmacy network strategy, pharmacy competitive intelligence, and Medicare Advantage pharmacy product ownership.

From 2009 onward, Adam has led key initiatives in UnitedHealthcare’s Medicare pharmacy team including new plan launches, preferred/narrow pharmacy network strategies and pharmacy discount programs like Pharmacy Saver, and provided business perspective and advocacy to policy makers and Medicare regulatory stakeholders as it relates to Part D drug plans.

Adam received his Bachelor’s in Computer Science from Purdue University and his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Adam lives in the St Paul, MN area with his wife and two children.
