Steve Clareen

Steven Spencer Clareen is a Life Sciences Executive that specializes in turnaround management as well as leading the commercialization of business units from start-up to established brand. Steve has diverse expertise in the biotechnology and medical device industries with experience in general management, business development, upstream and downstream marketing, sales and commercial operations. Most recently, Steve originated and led the integrated strategic and tactical commercial plans for the launch of DePuy Synthes Select™ across a broad range of customer segments (provider, physician and patient) at Johnson & Johnson. In 2013, Steve was recognized by the Becker’s Healthcare trade association as a Supply Chain Leader in the ambulatory surgery center industry.

Prior to Johnson & Johnson, Steve demonstrated success in business development and strategic planning roles for the Trauma Division at Synthes, a worldwide leader in orthopedics, spinal care and neuroscience. In this role, Steve led due diligence, structured and/or negotiated terms and conditions for new business opportunities with technology incubators, entrepreneurs, privately owned and university-affiliated companies. Earlier in his professional career, Steve held positions in Research and Development at Celgene Pharmaceuticals where he was an inventor on several patents and published in academic journals.

Steve received his M.B.A. in Finance and Marketing from The Johnson School at Cornell University and holds a M.S. in Organic Chemistry and B.A. in Inorganic Chemistry from Villanova University and Franklin & Marshal College, respectively.
