Joel’s career spans over 25 years specializing in the management of fast growth startups and small to medium sized businesses. He began his career running a small manufacturing company making precision components for the aircraft industry. The company was sold after tripling its size in just 4 years. Joel then co-founded an investment partnership, Cantor & Coleman that acquired and managed several companies including Hamilton Displays, a manufacturer and service provider to the trade show industry. With a blue chip list of clients such as Eli Lilly and Valvoline, Hamilton grew over 50% in the first year after acquisition and then acquired its largest local competitor the following year. In 1983 Joel moved to Louisville, Kentucky as Executive Vice President of Dr. Bizer’s Vision World, a regional eye care chain. The business grew to comprise 19 locations in four states and was acquired by Eye Care Centers of America in 1998. Joel served as COO of Community Physicians Network before becoming President of the Commercial Division of Darwin Networks. Darwin was one of the largest startups ever launched in the state of Kentucky. Under Joel’s leadership, the commercial division executed a business plan expanding into eight major markets across the United States. In 2003, Joel founded Stonemark Granite, a manufacturer of custom stone countertops serving the home center and kitchen design markets. Stonemark now services 32 Lowe’s Home Center stores and has remained profitable through the recession in the housing industry. In 2012, Joel began working with MD2U, a leader in the medical house call field. Joel is currently the company CFO.

Joel graduated magna cum laude with a BSME from the Vanderbilt University School of Engineering and completed his MBA degree at the Harvard Business School.
