Kara Sedoris, PhD



Kara has over 18 years of experience conducting research, competitive intelligence, management consulting, and data analysis in the life science/health care industry. She holds a doctorate in Physiology and Biophysics and an MBA from the University of Louisville and BA from Ohio Wesleyan University and currently maintains an Adjunct Assistant Professorship of Physiology (Gratis) at the University of Louisville.

Kara began her career by completing a post-doctoral fellowship in cancer research at the University of Louisville. She then served as Faculty of Medicine in the Department of Hematology/Oncology at the Brown Cancer Center for 6 years where she gained expertise in the preclinical development of cancer therapeutics. Subsequently, Kara joined a competitive intelligence firm where she worked with the pharmaceutical industry to provide actionable intelligence and recommendations for key business decisions. During her career, Kara has consulted for the life science and health care industry, particularly in performing technology and market evaluation for technology transfer management and implementation and strategic development.

Kara is currently leveraging her background in oncology, research, and clinical quality improvement as a consultant with Humana’s Oncology and Lab Strategies team where she focuses on value-based care strategies to help implement Humana’s Oncology Model of Care program and improve member experience. Prior to joining the Oncology team, Kara managed key initiatives and educational programs to optimize provider clinical quality and performance in support of STARS (HEDIS, Patient Safety, Member Experience) and conducted pharmaceutical predictive forecasting at Humana.
