Kim Spalding

Kimberly Spalding, CPA co-founded NarrowCast Group, LLC/IT Business Edge in 2004, as an online media and database marketing company focused on high-level technology decision makers,, and served as its Chief Financial Officer until its sale to QuinStreet in August 2011. Kim also co-founded TechRepublic in June 1997 and served as its Chief Financial Officer until the company was sold to CNET in July 2001. TechRepublic ( is a Web-based resource that provides real-world information to IT pros.

As Chief Financial Officer for both NarrowCast Group & TechRepublic, Kim led the companies’ human resources, legal, MIS, and financial divisions of the company which included raising both equity and debt capital. She also had primary responsibility for facilities and risk management and banking and equity investor relationships.

Prior to co-founding TechRepublic, Kim was Vice-President of Finance & Administration at the Cobb Group a Ziff-Davis company. Kim managed Cobb’s major growth phase overseeing its rise from 50 employees and revenues of $3 million in 1989 to 145 employees and revenues of $28 million in 1996.

In keeping with the entrepreneurial theme, Kim was a manager in Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneurial Services Group prior to joining the Cobb Group.

Kim was recognized as Bellarmine’s Accounting Alumna of the Year in 2001 and was a finalist in the Small Private Company category of Business First’s 2011 CFO of the Year Awards. Kim enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband of 30+ years and their two children. She also enjoys tennis, music and dancing. Her true passion, according to her husband, is “business” — because there’s no activity she loves more than building and growing companies.
